ABOUT US
In 1903 Thomas Edison was concerned about the healthcare of his time and stated: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Our Motto: Get to know the person behind the patient, see beyond the medical surface. Suggest the most graceful and practical way to promote their well-being
Each person is unique. Giving standard protocol medicine is useful in emergencies and critical conditions. Promoting well-being requires a deep understanding of the lifestyle in terms of food habits, sleep, exercise, stress, ailments and so on. We believe in doing it the old -fashioned way, where Dr.K Sharma spends time discussing with the patient and family about the probable causes of the issue. Our approach is, to promote wellbeing with minimal medical intervention.

YOGA
Yoga is a holistic practice that originated in ancient India and has evolved over thousands of years. It encompasses physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), meditation, and ethical principles. The word “yoga” itself means union, signifying the integration of the body, mind, and spirit.
The physical aspect of yoga involves various postures and movements that aim to enhance flexibility, strength, and balance. These postures are often combined with controlled breathing to create a harmonious flow. Beyond the physical practice, yoga emphasizes mindfulness and meditation to promote mental clarity, relaxation, and overall well-being.
Yoga is not just a form of exercise; it is a lifestyle that encourages self-awareness, compassion, and a connection with the present moment. There are different styles of yoga, ranging from more physically intense practices like Vinyasa or Ashtanga to gentler forms like Hatha or Yin yoga.
Yoga can be practiced for various reasons, including stress reduction, improved flexibility, and a sense of inner peace.
DIET,NUTRITION & WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
Weight management refers to the efforts and strategies individuals use to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight. It involves a combination of healthy eating, regular physical activity, and lifestyle choices to prevent excessive weight gain or promote weight loss if necessary.
Often we get patients who have tried weight management on their own by using social media as a guiding factor. We strongly recommend that a doctor and dietician be consulted before undertaking a weight loss program.
Key components of weight management include:
- Balanced Diet: Adopting a well-rounded and nutritious diet is crucial. This involves consuming appropriate portions of a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats.
- Regular Physical Activity: Engaging in regular exercise helps burn calories, improve metabolism, and enhance overall health. Combining cardiovascular exercises with strength training can be effective for weight management.
- Behavioral Changes: Developing healthy habits, such as mindful eating, portion control, and stress management, plays a significant role in weight management. Addressing emotional and stress-related eating is essential.
- Lifestyle Choices: Factors like sleep, hydration, and managing stress levels can impact weight. Ensuring adequate sleep and staying hydrated contribute to overall well-being.
- Monitoring and Accountability: Keeping track of food intake, physical activity, and progress is essential for successful weight management. It allows individuals to make necessary adjustments to their routines.
It’s important to approach weight management in a sustainable and realistic way, focusing on long-term health rather than quick fixes. Our in-house dietitian, will provide personalized guidance based on individual needs and health conditions.
LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT
Increasing incidence of lifestyle disorders among Indians are largely attributed by unhealthy lifestyle practices like poor dietary pattern, inadequate physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption and stress. Lifestyle modification programs are proved effective in behaviour modification and promotion of healthy lifestyle practices.
Educational interventions are effective in improving the knowledge regarding lifestyle practices and
lifestyle disorders, as well as modifying their lifestyle practices. Since lifestyle clinics have been identified as an important setting in imparting knowledge on health promoting lifestyle practices and lifestyle disorders.
Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern that cycles between periods of eating and fasting. Rather than focusing on specific foods to eat or avoid, intermittent fasting primarily dictates when to eat. There are several methods of intermittent fasting, but the common factor is the alternation between eating and fasting periods.
Here are a few popular methods:
- 16/8 Method: This involves daily fasting for 16 hours and restricting your eating to an 8-hour window. For example, you might eat between noon and 8 p.m. and fast from 8 p.m. to noon the next day.
- 5:2 Diet: In this approach, you consume a regular diet for five days of the week and significantly reduce calorie intake (usually around 500-600 calories) on two non-consecutive days.
- Eat-Stop-Eat: This method involves a 24-hour fast once or twice a week. For instance, you might eat dinner at 7 p.m. and then not eat again until 7 p.m. the following day.
- Alternate-Day Fasting: This entails alternating between days of regular eating and days with either no food or very limited caloric intake.
Intermittent fasting has gained popularity for potential health benefits, including weight loss, improved metabolic health, and enhanced cellular repair processes.
It is essential to note that while intermittent fasting may be suitable for some individuals, it may not be suitable for everyone. It’s advisable to consult with our doctor before starting any fasting regimen, especially for those with underlying health conditions or concerns.
PAIN MANAGEMENT
Pain management is a medical approach aimed at easing or alleviating pain, whether it’s acute (temporary) or chronic (long-lasting). The goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing pain by addressing its causes and providing relief. Pain management involves a multidisciplinary approach, often combining various medical, physical, and psychological strategies.
Key components of pain management include:
- Medication: Pain relievers, such as analgesics or anti-inflammatory drugs, may be prescribed to manage pain. In some cases, more powerful class of drugs can be used. Ayurveda also offers some pain-relieving medicines with a good track record.
- Physiotherapy: Exercises, stretches, and physical manipulation can help improve flexibility, strength, and reduce pain. Therapists work with patients to enhance their functional abilities and overall well-being.
- Interventional Procedures: Certain medical procedures, such as nerve blocks, injections, or surgical interventions, may be considered to alleviate pain by targeting specific nerves or tissues. Doctor’s opinion will be shared and surgical procedures will be done only for cases with chronic pain.
- Yoga: Practicing yoga asanas and pranayamas, are known to provide relief. Yoga is usually recommended in conjunction with other pain management strategies.
- Lifestyle Changes: Adopting a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, maintaining a balanced diet, and managing stress, can contribute to overall pain management.
Pain management plans are individualized based on the specific type of pain, its causes, and the patient’s overall health. Effective pain management aims not only to alleviate pain but also to improve functionality and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals experiencing pain. It often requires collaboration between our doctor, physio therapist and yoga instructor.

AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that has its roots in ancient India and has been practiced for thousands of years. The term “Ayurveda” is derived from two Sanskrit words: “Ayur,” meaning life, and “Veda,” meaning knowledge or science. Together, Ayurveda translates to the “science of life” or the “knowledge of life.”
Key principles and concepts of Ayurveda include:
- Doshas: According to Ayurveda, individuals possess a unique combination of three fundamental energies or doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These doshas are believed to govern various physiological and psychological functions within the body.
- Prakriti: Prakriti refers to an individual’s inherent constitution or natural state, determined by the dominant dosha or doshas. Understanding one’s prakriti helps in tailoring lifestyle and dietary recommendations for optimal health.
- Dhatus: Ayurveda categorizes the body’s tissues into seven types, known as dhatus. These include plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, marrow, and reproductive tissues. A balance in these dhatus is considered essential for overall well-being.
- Agni: Agni represents the digestive fire responsible for the metabolism and assimilation of nutrients. A balanced agni is crucial for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients.
- Malas: Malas are the waste products of metabolism, including urine, feces, and sweat. Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of proper elimination for maintaining health.
- Herbal Medicine: Ayurveda extensively uses herbs and natural substances for medicinal purposes. Various plant-based formulations are prepared to address specific health concerns.
- Principles of Treatment: Ayurvedic treatments aim to restore balance to the doshas. Therapies may include herbal remedies, dietary adjustments, lifestyle modifications, detoxification practices (Panchakarma currently not offered at Arya Wellness Centre), and the use of specific yoga and meditation techniques.
Ayurveda views health as a harmonious balance between the body, mind, and spirit, and disease as an imbalance within these elements. The approach is holistic, focusing on preventing illness, promoting longevity, and enhancing overall well-being.
